Saturday

Events: Jefferson Street Market featuring local wares and produce is 9:30 a.m. to noon at 625 Jefferson St.

Keep Troup Beautiful hosts its Great American Cleanup wrap-up event 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Chamber plaza in downtown LaGrange. The first 100 people will receive an event T-shirt. There will be a “tire amnesty” bin at the Westbrook Tire site to deposit non-commercial used tires.

The second Annual Fishing Tournament benefiting The Emmaus Shelter in memory of Jimmy Edge will be held on West Point Lake at Highland Marina. Blast off is at safe light with the first weigh in at 3 p.m. A first place prize is guaranteed for $1,200. Contact Ken Bearden at 706-884-0494 or at Highland Marina in person. Registration is $110.

The Active Life wellness center, 140 Ragland St., hosts dancing 7–10 p.m. with Jimmy Smith and New River Band. Cost is $5 per person. Adults of all ages welcome.

Meetings: Self Help Harbor, 909 Stonewall St., hosts AA meetings 10:30 a.m. for women, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Churches: Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in Pine Mountain hosts a Building Fund Fundraiser Event starting at 11 a.m. selling barbecue and fish plates for $8 each in the open field at the first light in Pine Mountain. All are welcomed. The Rev. Edward Landrum is the pastor.

Celebrate Recovery, a faith-based recovery program, meets at 3 p.m. at Hogansville First Baptist Church.

Churches: Leete Hill United Methodist Church hosts its annual Women’s Day Program at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be minister Elnora Hicks Copeland with the theme “More Precious than Rubies.” Dinner served.

Welcome Baptist Church in the Red Line Community hosts its Senior and Junior Usher Anniversary at 2:30 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Fredrick Stanley of Zion Rest Baptist Church in Valley, Ala.

Callaway Baptist Church hosts discipleship training, youth and children’s classes at 5 p.m.

Events: A beginner scrapbook class is offered at the Active Life Center on Ragland Street at 1 p.m. There is no cost for the class. A registration form and supply list can be picked up at the center.

Tuesday

New Community Church hosts Career Connect, a free job search assistance and networking event, at 5:30 p.m. with representatives from local staffing agencies, colleges, businesses and industries. Legacy Museum on Main, 136 Main St. in LaGrange, hosts the exhibit Lifting More Voices: Early Troup County Black History through Sept. 16.
