Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office have charged three men with damaging and stealing a tractor, then taking it across state lines.

Investigators said they received a complaint about the theft on May 19.

TCSO worked with investigators from the Chambers County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office and determined there were multiple cases with many more victims.

Through their joint investigations, both law enforcement agencies were able to make some connections to the suspects.

Troup investigators charged Mathew Allen, 27, of Troup County; and Bailey House, 32, and Christopher Smith, 26, both of Chambers County.

Allen was charged with felony theft, bringing stolen property across a state line, second degree criminal damage to property and felony theft of a motor vehicle.

House and Smith were charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle.

Allen is in the Troup County Jail.

Smith and House are currently housed in Chambers County Jail awaiting extradition to Troup County, said investigators.
