Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday morning the man they believe is responsible for robbing Billy’s Country Store at 25 Harmony Church Road was arrested in Randolph County, Alabama.

Stephen Michael Smith, whose age and address were unavailable, was taken into custody on Thursday by deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, said TCSO officials.

Smith is suspected of robbing Billy’s Country Store at gunpoint on May 2 just before 7 a.m. He allegedly pointed a handgun at a clerk behind the counter and left with an undetermined amount of money, stated investigators.

Smith is still being held in the Randolph County Jail. He is charged with robbery and possession of a firearm during certain felonies.
