Victim airlifted to hospital, police investigating

WEST POINT — Detectives with the West Point Police Department are investigating a shooting that injured one man about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of East 14th Street.

The victim was shot at least once in the head and taken to EAMC-Lanier hospital in Valley, Alabama, stated investigators. The man was later airlifted to UAB Birmingham hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, where he was listed in critical condition as of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

Investigators said they are currently looking for suspects in the incident.
