Two men riding around one of the parking lots at the Lee’s Crossing Apartment complex at 119 Old Airport Road told police they were robbed at gunpoint by two unknown men Tuesday about 12:55 a.m.

The victims told LaGrange police officers the suspects approached the vehicle in hooded sweatshirts and each drew a gun on them.

The robbers pulled the victims out of the car and ordered them to get on the ground, the men said. One of the robbers then grabbed one victim’s wallet that contained cash, a check, debit card and driver’s license, according to the report.

The other robber took the second man’s wallet, but then threw it back because it was empty, stated the victim.

The suspects fled on foot, the men told police.

Detectives were investigating.

Man cut, allegedly by girlfriend

LaGrange police officers met a man in the 1000 block of Whitesville Road on Tuesday evening who reported that his girlfriend had stabbed him. The reporting officer said the man had a large cut on his arm and refused to be transported by ambulance, opting to have a family member take him to the hospital.

Detectives were called to investigate, and no further information was available this morning.

Man charged with meth possession

A man who allegedly told an officer he was a celebrity and meth cook faces charges after he was arrested on a trespassing charge at the Budget Inn motel at 100 Hill St. on Sunday evening.

Police arrested the man, identified at Matthew Lee Spradlin, 26, after management at the motel called because he had been previously banned from the property and wanted him charged with trespassing. After an officer put him in handcuffs, he searched Spradlin and allegedly found suspected methamphetamine in his pocket.

Spradlin allegedly told the officer that he cooked it, but did not use it, according to the officer’s report. The officer noted Spradlin appeared to be under the influence of some type of drug, and Spradlin began saying he was a celebrity and “the biggest meth cook,” the report states.

He didn’t believe he could get in trouble for making meth and not using it, and felt his “celebrity status” meant he wouldn’t have to stay in jail, according to the officer’s report. Spradlin was charged with methamphetamine possession and criminal trespass.

Business burglarized

LaGrange police continue to search for a burglar who broke into the LaGrange Beverage Outlet at 1700 Lafayette Parkway about 4 a.m. Monday.

According to the store owner, the suspect stole about $600 from both cash registers inside the building.

The store’s surveillance video shows the suspect cut the lock off an outer door and force open a glass door, the police report states.

Inside the store, video shows suspect takes money from the registers and grabs three bottles of alcohol before leaving. The burglar was wearing a mask and gloves.

Police are investigating.

Other burglaries and thefts reported include:

• A burglar pried open the door to a unit at SunRidge Apartments, 1235 Hogansville Road, on Tuesday and stole an Xbox 360 video game system with accessories valued at a total $270, Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol valued at $1,000 and a box of checks.

• Three juveniles were charged with shoplifting on Tuesday after an employee at Belk, 1501 Lafayette Parkway, said they tried to walk out with $153.50 in clothing.

• A resident of the 600 block of Greenville Street reported Tuesday someone stole a black Diamondback Bikes bicycle valued at $800 from the property.

• A thief took a Bryant air-conditioner 2-ton condenser valued at $2,700 from outside a home in the 200 block of Nevada Street some time between May 26 and Tuesday afternoon, the owner reported.

Truck pulls down drive-through awning

Employees at Arby’s at 115 New Franklin Road said a person in a truck came to the drive-through when the business was closed Sunday evening. When no one took the driver’s order, the truck pulled out and a camper attached to the vehicle caught the awning, pulling it down.

A witness in the parking lot of Roger’s Bar-B-Que next door said she yelled at the driver to stop, but the truck sped out of the parking lot. Employees had no estimate on the damage.
