Islamic Speakers Bureau: Georgia Muslims denounce mass shooting

It is unbelievable and heartbreaking that, once again in America, a mass shooting has occurred, taking the lives of 50 individuals and injuring at least 53 more.

As Muslim Americans, we condemn totally this insane action and the man who perpetrated it. We stand with the people of Orlando and with the LGBT community of that city — and across America.

As Muslims, we believe in religious freedom, civil rights and human rights. Hatred has no place in America, and we will continue to work against hatred and prejudice, no matter toward whom it is directed.

As Muslims we offer our prayers to all the people affected by this horrendous and insane act of murder. We offer our condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wounded, and to all Americans who grieve for this tragedy. As President Obama said in his remarks this morning (Sunday), let us stand together in our grief and outrage, and in our solidarity with the victims and their families.

“We mourn the loss of innocent life,” said Soumaya Khalifa, founder and executive director of the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta. “Our prayers are with the family and friends of the victims. And we thank the brave men and women of law enforcement for their courage in bringing this massacre to an end.”
