Foster riding hot streak for summer-league team

Former Troup Tiger Jonathan Foster has found his hitting stroke.

Foster, a Troup High graduate who recently completed his first season with the Auburn Tigers, is spending his summer playing for the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League.

Coming into Tuesday’s game against Kalamazoo, Foster had managed just one hit in his previous five games.

As Foster showed during a sensational high-school career, and during his freshman season at Auburn, though, once he finds his rhythm at the plate, he’s hard to stop.

In his past three games, including Thursday’s 11-8 win over Kenosha, Foster has six hits and three RBIs, and his batting average has risen more than 100 points.

In Tuesday’s 8-3 loss to Kalamazoo, Foster was 3-for-3 with an RBI, and he was 2-for-2 with a run scored in a 12-10 loss to Kalamazoo on Wednesday.

In Thursday’s game, Foster kept it going with a hit and two RBIs to help the Woodchucks snap a four-game losing streak.

In 13 games, Foster is hitting .262 with 11 hits, two walks and four RBIs, and he has scored eight runs.

The Woodchucks improved to 8-7 with Thursday’s win.
