Letter: Reminiscing about a great city manager

Published 12:00 am Friday, June 24, 2016

I would like to reminisce about our late City Manager Tom Hall.

First, LaGrange is the only city in the state to operate without property taxes. There are so many great projects that Tom accomplished over the past 20 years, and I want to touch on the last four or five.

The Hamilton Road widening project has been in the making for 26 years, and it will soon be started. Now the next four projects require all team players to work hard, and they are the city of LaGrange, the Troup County Board of Education and the Callaway Foundation; Sweetland Amphitheatre, District 4 Health on Main Street, the hotel downtown is one test away, and the latest, Great Wolf Lodge, which will be an economic boost to LaGrange and Troup County.

All of the above would not have come to pass without the leadership of Tom Hall and his great staff calling the plays. This great city manager, Tom Hall, will be inducted into the Georgia Municipal Association Hall of Fame Monday, June 27, 2016.

It was my honor to work with Tom “Tucker” Hall for 20 years.

Bobby Traylor

Former LaGrange city councilman
