Pair allegedly tosses meth during chase

A pair of accused methamphetamine traffickers allegedly started jettisoning drugs after a sheriff’s deputy tried to stop their car on Interstate 85 early Saturday.
The deputy tried to pull over the Ford Mustang near the Kia Parkway exit about 1:38 a.m. for suspicion of speeding, failure to maintain lane and no tag light. The driver didn’t stop and started throwing items — which officials later determined was methamphetamine — from the vehicle, states a sheriff’s office press release.
When the driver, identified as Brittany Brisky, 29, did stop the car, the deputy arrested her and passenger Tony Duke, 40, both of Lafayette, Alabama. They were charged with trafficking methamphetamine, misdemeanor marijuana possession and traffic violations.
They were being held Monday afternoon in the Troup County Jail without bond.
Woman reports being attacked in apartment
Some residents of Cameron Crossing Apartments said Friday afternoon they were approached by a woman with a bloody nose who lives in the complex and who claimed someone had attacked her.
Officers searched the woman’s apartment, which they said was ransacked, and there was blood in the bathroom and bedroom. Two witnesses said they earlier saw a man putting items into the woman’s car, but he had left and no one saw a man go into the apartment.
A neighbor said she could hear the woman screaming and what sounded like items being thrown around the apartment, but never heard a man’s voice.
An officer met the woman at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center and talked to her, but said she continually passed out during the conversation and appeared to be under the influence of some type of drug. She gave police a name of the alleged assailant, but officers were unable to locate him.
The reporting officer said it was unclear what had actually happened in the apartment. Police were investigating.
Wanted man hides in home, allegedly has meth
A man was arrested after police officers used a K9 inside his mother’s home to capture him on Friday.
Officers were looking for Reginald Saffold, 31, of LaGrange, who had outstanding warrants. They checked his mother’s home where they saw a car in the driveway that didn’t belong to the resident. Police called the mother, who was at another house and said she would return to open the door.
While police waited and watched the home, a woman, identified as Saffold’s girlfriend, left and told officers he was inside. When the door was unlocked, a K9 officer and others went inside and found him. He was treated at the scene for “his minor injuries from the dog apprehension,” the report states.
An officer said he found a glass pipe containing what the officer suspected was methamphetamine near where officers found Saffold.
He was charged with obstruction and methamphetamine possession.
Puppies thrown from truck
A witness told police a man driving a white pickup truck tossed a box of five puppies out of the vehicle at Forrest Avenue and Williams Street before speeding off Monday afternoon. The witness and some of his family members gathered up the great pyrenees puppies, which had started running off.
The family kept two of the puppies and police took the other three to the LaGrange Animal Shelter to be placed in a pen with food and water. The reporting officer said all the dogs appeared to be healthy.
Woman allegedly steals items for presents
A 23-year-old woman was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting after surveillance footage at Walmart showed her take a gallon of bleach valued at $3.97 and a child sit-up seat valued at $159, according to a police report.
Walmart security discovered the theft, which occurred Sunday evening, while reviewing surveillance footage Monday. Footage allegedly showed the woman take the items to her car before walking back in the store to pay for cigarettes.
The reporting officer used the footage showing the license plate on the woman’s car to find her residence. After checking at the apartment twice, officers were eventually able to contact the suspect and arrest her after she allegedly admitted she was the woman on the security footage.
She also allegedly told officers that she had given the items away as baby shower presents. She was taken to Troup County Jail.

• Burglars entered a home in the 100 block of Melrose Drive, apparently through a window, and took a Samsung 42-inch TV valued at $599, LG plasma 42-inch TV valued at $500, 50-inch Emerson TV valued at $700, PlayStation 4 video game system valued at $600, games valued at a total $720, PlayStation camera valued at $67, Smart Balance hover board valued at $330, Beats Solo 2 wireless headphones valued at $299, Nintendo DS Lite system valued at $189, Gateway computer valued at $499, Canon printer valued at $99, Polo shirts valued at $400 total, Louis Vuitton pocket book valued at $2,000, Michael Kors pocket book valued at $300, Michael Kors watches valued at $278 and $189, and a jewelry box containing a necklace valued at $199, diamond ring valued at $600 and Ear rings valued at $399. The reporting officer believed more than one person had to be involved in the burglary and likely used a vehicle to transfer the stolen items.
• A resident of the 700 block of Callaway Avenue reported on Sunday that a burglar entered the home and stole a red 2010 Baja 150 dirt bike valued at $1,500, 55-inch TV valued at $200, Magnavox 32-inch TV valued at $500, Vizio sound bar valued at $200, tablet of undetermined brand valued at $150, Magnavox DVD player valued at $20 and three New Era brand Atlanta Braves hats — one blue, one red and one black — valued at about $30 each.
• Thieves entered a van parked at a home on Heard Street between Sunday night and Monday morning and stole $1,360 cash, an ECHO blower valued at $350, a Stihl weed trimmer valued at $289, a Milwaukee saw valued at $120, a cordless drill valued at $150, a tool box full of miscellaneous tools valued at a total $900, hedge clippers valued at $60, electric hedge trimmers valued at $50 and a Lincoln welder of undetermined value.
• A resident of the 1000 block of Whitesville Road on Monday told police someone took his mixed pit bull dog valued at $1,000 off its leash and stole it from his front porch.
• A woman told police Saturday that someone entered her father’s home in the 100 block of North Page Street and took a black laptop and 19-inch Panasonic TV of undetermined value.
• A burglar entered a storage unit at Spartan Self Storage, 313 New Airport Road, and took two crates of clothes, size 12 black and red Jordan shoes valued at $165, a crate of toys and several antique plates, the renter reported.
• Residents of a home in the 900 block of Borton Street on Sunday said a burglar entered their home and stole a black Xbox 360 valued at $140, controller valued at $50 and game valued at $60.
• A woman said a thief took $520 from her vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of North Page Street between Thursday evening and Friday morning.
• A truck driver said someone stole 65 gallons of diesel fuel valued at $165 from his truck while it was parked at Quality Inn, next to LaGrange Mall, between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
• The owner of a rental home on Baugh Street told police on Sunday that a thief took two window air-conditioning units, one valued at $350 and the other at $400.
