Burglaries

• A burglar entered a vacant home in the 1200 block of Murphy Avenue, apparently by shattering a glass door, between Thursday afternoon and Monday evening and stole a refrigerator valued at $600 and air-conditioning unit valued at $300, the owner reported Tuesday.

• Someone entered a home in the 700 block of North Harlem Circle on Tuesday, reported the resident. The burglar apparently pushed in a window air-conditioning unit and crawled through, then took a Toshiba 50-inch plasma TV valued at $700, Sony PlayStation 4 video game system with two wireless controllers and game valued at a total $620 and Sanyo 50-inch plasma TV valued at $550.

Scam

Security at Home Depot off Lafayette Parkway reported a woman tried to pass a fake $100 bill at the store, then a man who appeared to have coordinated with the woman tried to obtain refunds on three bags of fertilizer. Viewing surveillance, the store security officer believed the man was the same person shown on surveillance footage from Home Depot in Phenix City, Alabama, purchasing fertilizer with a counterfeit $100 bill.

Police were investigating.
