A LaGrange man was arrested after he was allegedly caught by a homeowner breaking into a car in the 100 block of Cochran Drive about 10:20 p.m. Monday.

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeffery E. Ellington and charged him with four counts of entering an auto.

After the homeowner called 911, he and a neighbor confronted the suspect, said investigators. Ellington allegedly then fled the scene.

Deputies and a LaGrange Police Department K-9 team located Ellington. He was taken into custody without incident.

The 19 year old also allegedly stole property out of some of the vehicles. All of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the legal owners.

Ellington is currently in the Troup County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
