Truck trailer collapses Thursday afternoon, snarls traffic in Hogansville

The trailer of an 18-wheeler collapsed in the eastbound turn lane of East Main Street at Bass Cross Road in Hogansville about 3 p.m. Thursday, said Hogansville Police Chief Brian Harr. The chief said the load inside the trailer likely shifted, putting too much weight on one area of the trailer, causing the collapse. Two wreckers had to move the trailer over two lanes as a crane unloaded the trailer’s contents. Police directed traffic around the scene, which is just off the Interstate 85 exit. Traffic was snarled for hours after the incident as crews cleaned up. No one was hurt in the incident.
