LaGRANGE — One woman continued to recover this morning after she was shot while riding as a passenger down the 200 block of Fendig Street on Saturday evening.

LaGrange police officers met up with the victim while she was being treated for a gunshot wound to the chin at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center about 6:45 p.m.

The woman said she and three other people were riding in a 2010 gray Honda Accord down Fendig Street when someone suddenly shot at their car around the 200 block.

No one else was hurt.

Investigators believe the people inside the car were looking to buy drugs, stated Sgt. William Nelson.

The day prior at about 1:15 p.m., LaGrange police responded to a call for shots fired in the area of Bell Street.

One witness claimed she saw a group of people with a weapon, said police. Officers canvassed the neighborhood, but did not find anything.

One man was detained by police after running from them, stated Sgt. Robert Kirby. But it could not be verified if the man was responsible for the incident on Bell Street.

LaGrange police this morning were still searching for suspects in the shooting on Fendig Street.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000. Callers can remain anonymous.
