Letter: Democrats closer to fascists than Trump

Earlier this week, I had a talk with a fellow who said he is voting for Hillary. His reason is that he believes “Donald Trump is a fascist and a racist.” He insisted that Hillary is a competent and experienced politician who would do a good job as president. I was amazed at how much of the progressive/Democrat line he has swallowed.

To begin with, a fascist is someone who believes that he, or she, is much more qualified to run your day-to-day life than you are. I believe the Democrat administrations of various cities as well as our current leaders in Washington have conformed to that definition.

They insist that they know how much soda you should drink and how many grams of fat you should ingest daily. They have also decided that you should have health insurance whether you want it or not.

Further, they have not hesitated to dictate that as a law abiding citizen you should not possess a firearm without their permission. This does not describe Donald Trump, but it does describe Hillary and her progressive followers.

As to racism, this is a convenient liberal term used to describe anyone who disagrees with the party line or refuses to be “politically correct.” Their definition of a racist is anyone who disagrees with President Obama.

An alternate definition is anyone who wants to control immigration to our shores. Trump disagrees with Obama and wants to control immigration, and, therefore, he is perceived by progressives as a racist — which he is not.

The essence of America is our freedom to choose. Liberty! Hillary and the progressive’s approach to government is to take away that choice.

It promotes putting the nation in the hands of a few “experts” who will dictate how we should conduct our lives. We will have a nation ruled by bureaucrats.

The EPA, OSHA and other administrative agencies make laws, enforce them and adjudicate to punish those who do not toe the line. That is the progressive model of government. This violates the idea of a government composed of three branches. Further, it undermines the Constitution upon which our basic liberties depend.

When Trump says he wants to make America great again, he is saying, in essence, that he wants to give back that uniquely American concept of being able to choose for ourselves. That uniqueness has been eroded in recent years.

If Hillary is elected we are in danger of losing it entirely. If that happens, we may never get it back.
