Columnist: Trump will win in November

One of the things that bothers me about political commentators is that most of them don’t have the intestinal fortitude to make political predictions. They only give analysis about what is going on in the political arena.

On most things I don’t know what is going to happen in the future. However, when it comes to football and presidential politics, I am willing to stick my neck out.

I am passionate about college football. Even though I am a Georgia Dawg, they will not win the Southeastern Conference football championship this year. That distinction goes to the Crimson Tide of Alabama. I’ll bet my life that Nick Saban, my favorite coach, and his team will not be defeated in the SEC.

Auburn fans, I feel sorry for you. In fact, I pray for you every day. You cannot and will not defeat the Tide. If Auburn wins half of their games this year, they’ll be lucky.

Even though I am not a Trump supporter, I believe he will win in November. Michael Moore, a prominent Hillary backer and documentarian, is saying the same thing. He too believes that Trump will be a formidable foe.

Trump will win because too many Democrats naively believe he will be easy to beat. Fellow progressive Democrats, you had better wake up and realize that Hillary Clinton will face a Trump who knows what it takes to win.

In the primaries, Trump easily defeated strong candidates like Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and John Kasich. All of these were, in my opinion, stronger candidates than Clinton.

Bill and Hillary Clinton have spent decades in politics. Over that period of time they have made millions of enemies. Some Democrats, especially the Reagan Democrats, will overwhelmingly vote for Trump. There is absolutely nothing the Clinton team can do to win these white, middle class voters in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Some evangelicals will vote against Trump. However, most evangelicals will, in November, vote for Trump. Why? Because they cannot stand Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump will not defeat Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton will defeat Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump is not a conservative Republican. He is first and foremost a pragmatist. Unlike most Republicans, he supports the LGBT community. He accepts they should have the same basic, constitutional rights as others.

When people stupidly wanted to monitor bathroom behavior, Trump said that transgender people would not be harassed in his restrooms.

Although I know Trump will be our next president, I still plan to vote for Hillary Clinton in November. I recognize that Clinton is a very imperfect individual.

I am voting against Trump because I don’t trust him when it comes to foreign affairs. I want someone in the White House who has lots of experience in dealing with the world’s leaders. Clinton has that experience.

Yes, Trump will win the national election. He will also win in Troup County, Georgia and Alabama. It’s possible for him to win 80 percent or more in Troup. I believe that also.
