Events: The Active Life senior center at 140 Ragland St. offers oil painting classes at noon for all adults 55 and older. 706-883-1681

Meetings: Toastmasters International meets 8 a.m. at Wingate by Wyndham on Wingate Terrace, off Greenville Road, in LaGrange.

West Point City Council meets for a work session at 8:15 a.m.

The Kiwanis Club of LaGrange meets at noon at Highland Country Club.

Self Help Harbor, 909 Stonewall St., hosts AA meetings at noon and 6 p.m.

Older Americans Sharing in Service, the senior adult group of Rosemont Baptist Church, meets at noon in the church fellowship hall.

Crime Stoppers meets at 6 p.m. in the LaGrange Police Department training room.

Community Action For Improvement meets at 6:30 p.m. in the CAFI central office.

LaGrange Newcomers and Beyond, a women’s social club, meets at First Presbyterian Church on Broad Street at 6:30 p.m. There is a program, refreshments and a short business meeting.

The Sons of LaGrange Lodge No. 537, a Prince Hall affiliate, meets at 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Brown and Watson streets.

Events: Market on Main is 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Carmike Cinemas LaGrange 10 parking lot at Main and East Depot streets featuring local produce, food and crafts.

Jefferson Street Market featuring local wares and produce is 9:30 a.m. to noon at 625 Jefferson St.

Friends of LaGrange Memorial Library hosts the First Saturday Book Sale 10 a.m.–2 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Book Shop at the library on Alford Street.

The Open Heart Association, a nonprofit organization, hosts a Youth Empowerment Luncheon for all middle and high school students 2:30–5 p.m. at the Royal Elite Event Center, 1379 Lafayette Parkway in LaGrange. Free food and drinks.

Meetings: The West Georgia chapter of Fort Valley State University Alumni meets at 10 a.m. at the William Griggs Recreation Center.

Mount Gilead Baptist Church, on Cedar Street, celebrates its Usher Anniversary at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Sam Cameron and Springfield Baptist Church of LaGrange.

Eastside Baptist Church, 1016 Mason St., hosts its annual Mission Day service at 3 p.m. Speaker will be minister Claudette Musgrave Hutchinson.

Callaway Baptist Church hosts discipleship training, youth and children’s classes at 5 p.m.

Legacy Museum on Main, 136 Main St. in LaGrange, hosts the exhibit Lifting More Voices: Early Troup County Black History through Sept. 16.
