Two men and a juvenile are behind bars after allegedly trying to rob two men at gunpoint behind a home in the 200 block of Cherry Street about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Keenen Harps, 18, Derrean Tucker, 17, and a 16-year-old male, all of LaGrange, were arrested and charged with criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The victims said they were approached by the suspects, when one brandished a handgun and demanded money, the police report stated.

The two men refused to give the suspects any money, said officers. That is when the group of men allegedly attacked the victims.

When the victims mentioned calling the police, the suspects fled on foot.

According to LaGrange Police, the victims followed the three men to another home on Cherry Street where officers responded and arrested the suspects.

Just over an hour later, about 10:40 p.m., and less than a mile away, a man driving near the intersection of Harwell Avenue and Ashton Street called 911 after someone tried to rob him while he was sitting in his car.

The victim told police he was at the stop sign with his window rolled down when a unidentified male approached his vehicle.

The suspect then struck the driver in the face with a handgun while attempting to rob him, a police report stated.

The victim managed to speed away in his vehicle, said police officers. The suspect then fled the area on foot.

The driver suffered minor injuries, stated police. The suspect did not take any of the man’s possessions.

Anyone with information on either armed robbery attempt is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000. Callers can remain anonymous.

Prostitution

One woman was arrested at a home in the 200 block of Poplar Circle about 1:45 p.m. on Thursday after LaGrange police learned she was allegedly soliciting herself as a prostitute.

The arrest followed an investigation by the LaGrange Police Department.

The woman was transported to the Troup County Jail and charged with prostitution in violation of city ordinances – which is a misdemeanor.

Bullet holes found in home

A representative of DASH called LaGrange police after discovering bullet holes in a vacant home in the 500 block of South Lee Street about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Two the of the bullet holes were found in some Sheetrock just above a bathtub, while a third hole was discovered in the wall of one of the bedrooms, according to the police report.

Police stated it appeared as if someone was standing in the backyard when the shots were fired.
