Kayak event, poker run to benefit cancer patient

The Kayak Parade for Kim with Poker Run is set for Aug. 27 on the Chattahoochee River in West Point. The event will benefit breast cancer patient Kim Murphy. Entrants are asked to decorate their kayaks and wear pink. Registration is 10—11:30 a.m. at the Downtown River Park in West Point, and shuttles will run participants from the park to the launch site. Cost is $20 per boat entered. Entrants provide their own boats, but a limited number will be available to rent for a total $50 — which includes event registration — from Great Lakes and Land Co. The poker run is $10 for those who choose to participate and prizes will be awarded for best, second best and worst hands. Pre-registration is available at Great Lakes and Land Co., 3017 West Point Road in LaGrange, or by calling 706-594-1478.
