LaGrange police are investigating the alleged assault of a woman in the Summit convenience store parking lot at 3124 Hogansville Road about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Officers met the victim inside the emergency room at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center almost 12 hours later as she was being treated for her injuries.

The victim told police she drove to the convenience store that morning to buy cigarettes. She went inside, but realized her debit card was still in her truck, the woman told officers. She went to retrieve it and heard a female voice call her a derogatory name.

According to the report, the victim said the assailants — possibly two females — grabbed her arm, punched her, kicked her, threw her to the ground and hit her multiple times. The woman said she was knocked unconscious and woke up in the parking lot with her husband nearby.

Officers noted the victim had bruises all over her body.

Police also spoke with the victim’s husband. He told officers he went looking for his wife about 20 minutes after she left their home. He pulled into the gas station and found her lying on the ground.

The couple both told police the victim initially refused to seek medical treatment because she is “scared of doctors.”

Managers of the convenience store said their surveillance camera where the assault allegedly took place is broken, the police report stated.

Police are investigating the incident.

Stolen dog

A woman called police about 10:50 p.m. Monday after her dog was allegedly stolen by some juveniles from the back yard of her home in the 1000 block of Hill Street.

The woman told LaGrange police she let her gray pitbull terrier puppy outside to use the bathroom around 8:30 p.m. that same night. When she checked on the dog a few minutes later, he was gone.

According to the victim, neighbors told her some youths took the dog from the yard. The woman made contact with the juveniles, but no one claimed to have the puppy.

The victim told police she purchased the dog for $1,200.

Police are investigating the incident.
