Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office are searching for two people in connection with several breaking and entering into vehicles and thefts.

Dylan Anthony Dutton, 21, and Taren Hope Fomby, 17, both of LaGrange, are accused of breaking into cars and stealing firearms out of the vehicle, stated TCSO investigators.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Dutton and Fomby.

Dutton is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, entering auto and felony theft by receiving a stolen firearm, according to investigators. Fomby is charged with criminal attempt to enter an automobile.

This is the second time in just over three months Dutton has been in trouble with the law. The man was one of two people who allegedly robbed someone walking on an exercise track along Upper Glass Bridge Road on May 5, according to a previous article in the LaGrange Daily News.

Dutton and Katlin Peoples, 18, of LaGrange, allegedly attacked the person and took an undetermined amount of money, according to investigators.

The two were arrested and taken to the Troup County Jail. Both were each charged with robbery by force.

Anyone with information on Dutton and Fomby’s whereabouts in regards to the car break-ins and theft is asked to contact the Troup County Sheriff’s Office at 706-883-1616 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.

Keys stolen/recovered from car lot

An employee at Cleggs Appliances at 1012 Hogansville Road called LaGrange police on Monday about 8:30 a.m. after a man said he found 10 sets of car keys behind the building.

Officers learned the keys belonged to the owner of Action Car Sales at 1019 Hogansville Road, the report stated.

The owner told police the keys were for an inventory of vehicles he had and already sold. He told officers the keys were stored inside a porcelain bowl in their office, but that bowl was now gone, the report said.

Police are investigating.

Fight/damage to car

A homeowner called police on Sunday about 6 p.m. after a fight between him and his stepson escalated in the 800 block of Greenville Street.

The man told LaGrange police officers the verbal argument turned physical outside the home. His stepson ripped a drive out tag off one car, according to the report.

The homeowner went indoors to call 911 and when he returned outside, his stepson was gone and there was suddenly significant damage on a second car on his property, the report states.

The estimated cost of the repairs was $3,000.

Police are searching for the man’s stepson.
