Lafayette Christian gets pair of home volleyball wins

LAGRANGE – The Lafayette Christian School volleyball team improved to 2-1 on the young season with a pair of home victories over Central Christian on Monday.

In both matches, Lafayette Christian had to rally after dropping the first set.

In the first match, Central Christian won the first set 25-19, and Lafayette Christian won the next two 25-13 and 15-9.

The second match followed a similar pattern.

Lafayette Christian dropped the first set 25-20, but it won the next two 25-12 and 15-9.

In the first match against Central Christian, Emily Stringham had nine assists and five aces, and Olivia Hanners had five kills and two aces.

In the second match, Lafayette Christian head coach Rene Gomez said Abbey Hudson and Stringham “distributed the ball really well.”

Hudson also had five digs in the second match.

One of the biggest plays of the second match came in the third and deciding set.

Lafayette Christian was down 4-0 when Emily Wyzykowski had a kill to jump-start a rally.

“We really needed a stop, and she got us our first point,” Gomez said.
