LaGRANGE — The Georgia State Patrol released more information on Thursday about a fatal wreck involving an 18-wheeler on Interstate 185 between mile markers 46 and 47.

John Kenneth Duncan, 59, of Luthersville, was killed in the crash, according to GSP officials.

Duncan was driving a Freightliner truck in the southbound lanes of I-185 about 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday when the semi partially crossed into the emergency lane, GSP officials stated.

The driver then over-corrected to the left and the tractor-trailer slid back across both lanes of traffic. Duncan over-corrected the semi again and skidded into the outside lane, according to a GSP statement.

The 18-wheeler rotated clockwise, overturned and slid uncontrollably on the driver’s side and top of the vehicle before coming to a stop in southbound lanes of traffic, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Duncan died at the scene.
