LAGRANGE – He’s looking to share his knowledge.

Charlie Vinson, a local golf instructor with decades of experience in the business, will be offering a one-day free junior golf clinic at The Fields Golf Club on Oct. 1.

The clinic, which will include on-course instruction as well as some lessons on rules of the game, will be held from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Vinson said the golfers aren’t required to bring their own golf clubs.

“There might be a kid that’ll never be exposed again if I don’t try to do it,” Vinson said. “So, I think it’s a good thing.”

Vinson was a golf professional from 1970 until 1980 before he began working for Milliken, and he is now retired.

Vinson offers lessons at The Fields and the Cart Barn, and he’s looking forward to hopefully offering more free clinics for youth golfers.

While hopeful of attracting at least 10 young golfers for the clinic, Vinson said he’ll be out there regardless.

“I’ll do it if I’ve got two, because it’s for the kids,” Vinson said.

The clinic will be divided into three parts.

The first 45 minutes will be spent on the practice tee, and the next 45 minutes will be spent on the practice green where the participants will work on chipping and putting.

The final 45 minutes will be in a room and Vinson will be “going over rules and etiquette and how to act on the golf course.”

To sign up for the clinic, call The Fields Golf club at (706) 845-7425.
