Driver hits tree, flees scene on foot

Alcohol and speed were reportedly contributing factors to a single car accident about 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday in front of the Tall Pines apartment complex at 150 Turner St.

A witness said the driver was westbound on Turner Street at a high rate of speed in a white 2013 Dodge Charger, the report stated.

The driver then struck a large tree near the entrance to the apartment complex and ran, according to the report.

LaGrange police officers smelled alcohol and discovered several spilled cups of an alcoholic beverage inside the car, the report said.

Police are investigating.

Burglary

A woman told LaGrange police someone broke into her home in the 900 block of Taft Street and stole her 70-inch Vizio TV.

She stated the incident occurred while she was at work between noon on Tuesday and just after midnight on Wednesday.

The value of the TV was estimated at $3,000.

Stolen motorcycle

A man reported someone stole his 1999 Honda CR 250 motorcycle from the bed of his truck at a home in the first block of New Street.

The victim discovered the red and black motorcycle was missing about 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The motorcycle was valued at $2,500.

AT&T store theft

The manager of the AT&T store at 382 S. Davis Road discovered an iPhone 6S missing from its case on Sunday, according to a police report.

He did not report the theft to LaGrange police until Tuesday.

The manager stated he noticed it missing while scanning the bar codes of all the cellphones within the store, the report said.

The value of the iPhone 6S was estimated at $600.

Burglars break into concession stands

An employee with the Troup County Parks and Recreation Department discovered someone broke into both concession stands in Callaway Stadium at 801 Dallis St.

The employee found the damage about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The perpetrators allegedly stole eight cases of candy from the east side concession stand, according to the report. The cases of candy were worth more than $319.

The perpetrators also damaged the doors, handles and locks to both concession stands, the report stated.

The estimated cost of repairs was $1,200.
