LaGRANGE — City workers will begin putting barricades in place on Broad Street starting Monday, Oct. 3, so crews can finish work at the Mansour’s demolition site.

The altered traffic pattern will stretch between West LaFayette Square and North Lewis Street on Broad Street, said Lt. Mark Kostial with the LaGrange Police Department.

Broad Street will remain open to all westbound and eastbound traffic on Monday, but will be closed to all motorists starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Kostial said.

The temporary closure on Broad Street should only last four hours, he added.

There are detours drivers can use during this time.

Motorists traveling toward Lafayette Square on Broad Street are encouraged to take Springdale Drive, Greenwood or Lewis streets in order to navigate around this closure, stated Kostial.

People traveling westbound toward Lafayette Square from Morgan Street will be diverted onto West Lafayette Square and then onto Vernon Street as part of this closure.

Drivers traveling southbound on Church Street who need to utilize Broad Street during this closure are asked to take either Smith, Battle or Haralson streets, Kostial said.

LaGrange police also warn drivers traffic around Lafayette Square will also be more congested during the closure. They ask motorists to use caution when driving through the area.
