A 59-year-old man was not hurt as he reportedly tried to wrestle a weapon away from a robber inside his home in the 100 block of Jarboe Street.

The home invasion happened just before midnight on Friday, stated investigators with the LaGrange Police Department.

The victim told officers an unknown African-American male wearing a mask, entered the house and pointed a gun at him. The suspect then demanded money, investigators stated.

The man said while he attempted to disarm the suspect, a single shot was fired inside the house, according to the police report. The bullet did not hit anyone.

The suspect ran from the house on foot, investigators stated.

Armed robbery

A West Point man reported he was robbed at gunpoint by two men as he walked to the store in the 600 block of East 11th Street Thursday night.

The victim told West Point Police Department officers the two suspects jumped out of a car, pointed a weapon at him and demanded money. The man complied and gave them his wallet, stated WPPD Capt. Kevin Carter.

The suspects then got back in the car and took off, Carter stated. The victim was not hurt.

West Point Police officers investigating a separate incident a few hours later on Third Avenue discovered the victim’s wallet next to a trash can, said Carter.

Police are investigating.

Prowling

One man was arrested for reportedly knocking on windows and attempting to enter the front door twice at a home in the 900 block of Williams Street.

The homeowner called 911 both times, a police report stated. LaGrange police officers discovered the perpetrator the second time sitting between two bushes directly under the victim’s bedroom window smoking a cigarette, according to the report.

The victim told police after officers left the area the first time, the man returned to the house, walked on the porch, knocked on her bedroom windows and attempted to open the front door. The perpetrator was allegedly also trying to peep inside the bedroom windows, the report stated.

The woman stated she knows the suspect and he has made unwanted sexual advances towards her in the past, police stated.

The man was cited for prowling and loitering, which are misdemeanors, stated officers. He was also criminally trespassed from the home.
