Man allegedly beats man in head with board

A LaGrange man remains behind bars accused of beating another man in the head with two pieces of wood in the 200 block of Carver Street just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Willie Anthony Tucker, 33, was arrested by LaGrange police and charged with aggravated battery.

The victim told officers he owed Tucker some money, a report stated.

At some point during the argument, Tucker picked up an 18-inch wooden block from a screen door and hit the victim, the report read. The suspect also used a 10-inch wooden block to allegedly assault the man. He then fled the scene in his car.

The victim suffered a serious cut to the back of his head and a broken bone, investigators said. He was taken to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

LaGrange police officers located Tucker a short time later and transported him to the Troup County Jail.

DUI driver crashes into LaFayette Square

A woman was arrested for reportedly driving through part of LaFayette Square and leaving the scene shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

A witness saw the crash and called E-911, a reported stated.

LaGrange police officers were able to find the driver and the damaged car at the Summitt gas station at 828 N. Greenwood St.

As officers spoke with the driver, they could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person, according to a police report.

When police looked in the woman’s car the found a cold, almost full bottle of beer, the report read.

The driver failed a field sobriety test and blew a .147 into a Breathalyzer, according to police.

The woman was arrested and charged with DUI – less safe, striking a fixture, reckless driving and an open container.

The driver reportedly tore up a portion of the wrought iron fence on the square that runs along Bull Street. She also left behind the front bumper of her car along the fence.

Tires stolen

A woman claimed four tires from her car were stolen while it was being repaired at the Southside Detail and Car Wash at 912 Hamilton Road.

The victim told LaGrange police she noticed the tires were gone when she went to pick up the vehicle on Tuesday, the report stated.

The owner allegedly told the victim the theft happened over the weekend, according to the report.

The tires were valued at $1,200.

Burglary

A homeowner told LaGrange police someone broke into her house in the 900 block of Elm Street Tuesday morning.

The woman claimed the perpetrator(s) stole the family’s PlayStation 4 gaming system.

The value of the item was estimated at $450.
