DOUGLASVILLE – It’s familiar territory for LaGrange High’s Alaina Tomlinson.

Tomlinson, a senior, ran to her third consecutive region championship on Thursday when she took the top spot in the Region 5-AAAA meet in Douglasville.

Tomlinson helped the Lady Grangers finish third as a team, meaning they’ve qualified for the state meet next weekend in Carrollton.

Tomlinson, who won the Region 5-AAAAA title in 2014 and 2015, posted a time of 20 minutes, 33 seconds in Thursday’s race, and that was nearly a minute faster than the second-place finisher, Zaria White of Chapel Hill.

Also for LaGrange, Anna Brovoll placed third with a time of 21:40, and Brianna Stansbury (23:41) and Anna Doerr (23:57) were 15th and 18th, respectively.

Audrey Tomlinson (25:09) was 29th, Mary Beth Callaway (27:12) placed 37th, and Amanda Thompson (31:14) was 44th.

For Troup, Catherine Leveritt (23:01) capped a succesful season with an 11th-place finish.

Monica Cameron (25:25) was 30th, Miranda Ahner (27:02) was 36th, and Mary Claire Finley (28:25) and Abby Barentine (28:28) were 40th and 41st, respectively.

In the boys’ race, LaGrange’s top finisher was freshman Alex Bowie (18:17), who was 14th.

Joshua Turman (18:30) was 18th, Miller Penn (18:38) was 19th, Matthew Callaway (18:41) placed 21st, and Donta Dunson (18:41) placed 22nd.

LaGrange’s final two runners were Javid Coleman (19:37) and Collin Taylor (19:45).

In the team competition, LaGrange finished fifth to just miss out on qualifying for state.

For Troup, Tre Lance (19:11) was 32nd, and Parker Stover (20:04) and Tyler Meadows (20:08) were 38th and 39th, respectively.

Troup’s remaining runners were Jacob Kimball (22:06), Danny Conner (22;41), Eduard Hurtado (24:27) and Carson Tarwater (25:28).
