LAGRANGE – Bring on Cartersville.

The Troup Tigers made it eight in a row with a 41-0 victory over Central-Carroll on Friday, and they’ll be back on the road next week for a showdown against Cartersville for the Region 5-AAAA championship.

Troup (8-1 overall) and Cartersville (9-0) will both bring 5-0 region records into the game.

A winless Central-Carroll team didn’t figure to give Troup much trouble, and that’s the way it played out.

Troup scored three touchdowns and led 20-0 at the half, and it added three more touchdowns in the second half to cruise to the win.

Camren Russell and Tyree Carlisle both had touchdown runs for Troup, Ken Truitt and Kenly Bridwell both had a touchdown catch from Montez Crowe, Kobe Hudson returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Alonzo Ogletree had an interception return for a touchdown.

Also on Friday, Lafayette Christian School secured a spot in the GICAA state playoffs with a 49-8 win over Twiggs Academy.

Landon Whitley had two rushing touchdowns, and he also threw a scoring pass to Avery Staples.

Jacob Lueken and Nick Spitler each had two rushing touchdowns, and Mitch Crandall had a 41-yard punt return for a touchdown.
