Man tased after allegedly threatening officers

A man involved in a fight with another man was tased by LaGrange Police when he also allegedly threatened officers in a field off Turner Street just after 2 p.m. on Monday.

The suspect fled from the original scene at the intersection of North Greenwood and Turner Streets and was spotted by an LPD officer in an area between two houses, a report read.

Officers approached the suspect on foot and asked him to comply. But the man allegedly became combative, reached back as if to punch officers, took a “fighting stance” and verbally threatened them, according to the report.

At least one officer then tased the suspect in order to gain compliance, the report stated.

The man was arrested and charged with obstruction, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

Burglaries

• Two men discovered someone broke into their home 300 block of Alford Street just before 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

They told LaGrange police the suspect(s) stole a 32-inch LG flat screen television and two Xbox game stations, according to a report.

The items were valued at $650.

• A man returned to his house in the 500 block of Ridley Avenue about 7 p.m. on Monday and discovered someone entered his home and stole a 40-inch flat screen TV.

The TV was valued at $159.

Guest accidentally burns hotel mattress

The manager of the Wingate hotel at 103 Wingate Terrace discovered a burned mattress inside one of the rooms on Monday.

LaGrange police discovered candles were left burning unattended and potentially started the fire, a report stated.

The damage to the room was estimated at $1,500.
