One man remains behind bars accused of repeatedly beating a family member with a gun on Sunday inside a home in western Troup County.

James Junior Hardy, 38, was detained after investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office determined he “pistol whipped” a family member without any provocation.

Hardy, a convicted felon, also allegedly pointed a loaded gun at another person who was trying to assist the injured relative, TCSO investigators stated.

Hardy was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony crime.

He is currently in the Troup County jail awaiting a bond hearing.

Indecent exposure

An employee of Belk at the LaGrange Mall called police after spotting a shopper reportedly fondling himself inside the store just after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The employee told LaGrange Police officers the man also exposed himself several times, a report read.

The incidents were captured on the store’s surveillance system, according to the report.

Police canvassed the mall but did not find the man.

Shoplifting

LaGrange police are searching for a man and a woman who stole items from the Home Depot at 1500 Lafayette Parkway on Monday and then fraudulently returned them for cash.

The manager told police he caught the couple on the store’s surveillance system purchase a a Shark brand vacuum and Honeywell air purifier.

The manager then spots the man re-enter the store through another entrance and steal the exact same items, a report stated.

Later that night, the woman is seen on camera returning one of the vacuum cleaners and purifiers with a receipt, according to the report.

The store estimated it lost more than $348.
