LaGRANGE — One man remains behind bars on Wednesday accused of robbing a woman, beating her and holding her against her will inside a speeding vehicle.

Marco Shephard, 36, of LaGrange was arrested by Troup County Sheriff’s deputies and charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of false imprisonment under the Family Violence Act, strong arm robbery and battery.

Shephard allegedly forcibly robbed the woman, beat her, ripped her shirt off and kidnapped her, said TCSO investigators.

The victim managed to jump from the speeding car on Interstate 85 and was able to call 911, investigators stated.

TCSO officials said the Shephard and the victim know each other, but did not divulge how they were related.
