HOGANSVILLE – Nine members of the Callaway High softball team earned a spot on the all-Region 5-AA team that was revealed on Monday.

Among that group are three players who were first-team selections, and the other six players made the second team.

Callaway’s first-team players are Kelly Carlisle, Skylar Rice and Oeisha Jenkins.

Carlisle, a junior, moved to shortstop last season and excelled in that role, and Rice held down the first-base position.

Jenkins made the all-region team as a pitcher, and she was also one of the team’s top hitters.

Second-team players for Callaway are senior outfielders KeKe Talley and Acia Stephens, infielders Jasmine Dukes and Kourtney Grier, catcher Lydia Bartlett, and utility player Leijorey Sanders.

Those players helped Callaway finish fourth in Region 5-AA to earn a spot in the state tournament.

Of the nine all-region players, seven of them will be returning next season, with Talley and Stephens set to graduate.

“It’s nice to know that everybody on that list, besides KeKe and Acia, are coming back,” Callaway coach Ashley Summerlin said.

Summerlin was pleased to see his players get the all-region recognition.

“You put in work throughout the year, and you get something to show for it at the end of the year,” Summerlin said. “We feel good about that.”
