Cab driver robbed at gunpoint

A local cab driver told LaGrange police he was robbed at gunpoint in the 300 block of Hudson Street just after 6 p.m. Tuesday morning.

The driver was getting into his cab when he was approached from behind by an unknown man, according to the report.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck and said, “Give up your money,” the report stated.

The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The gunman then fled the scene, a police report said.

Police are investigating.

Possible stolen car

A woman eating at the IHOP restaurant at 1513 Lafayette Parkway about 11:30 p.m. on Monday walked out and discovered her car was gone.

The victim told LaGrange Police she borrowed the 2010 black, Nissan Altima from her sister, the report stated.

The sister claimed she did not have the car in her possession, according to the report.

The victim told officers the doors were locked and she had possession of the car keys.

An officer noticed a fresh drag mark but no broken glass where the car was parked, the report stated.

Police stated the vehicle may have been repossessed.

Officers are still investigating.

Burglary

A man returned home and discovered someone ransacked his home in the 100 block of East Render Street and stole several items.

The homeowner told LaGrange police it happened while he was out of town, sometime between the hours of 7 p.m. on Saturday and 6:30 a.m. on Monday.

The suspect(s) allegedly took a 55-inch Samsung TV, a 42-inch LG TV, a 42-inch Toshiba TV, a Nikon camera, and two Suzuki all-terrain vehicles, according to the report.

The total value of items stolen was $5,296.

Police are investigating.

Damage to car, theft

A woman reported someone damaged her 2014 Chrysler 200 while the car was parked at the Lee’s Crossing apartment complex at 119 Old Airport Road on Monday.

The woman claimed someone also stole a pair of tennis shoes from the backseat of the vehicle, stated a police report.

LaGrange police stated it also appeared the perpetrator tried to remove the radio system from the car.

The outside of the victim’s vehicle was “keyed” on both the driver and passenger side, from front to back, the report stated.

The estimated repair cost was more than $500.

Forged check

A woman told LaGrange police she was scammed during an online job request allegedly by a construction company out of Missouri.

The woman received a check in the amount of $1,320.56 and was told to buy certain items, according to the report.

When the woman deposited the check into her account, the bank notified her it was fake, the report stated.

Detectives with LPD’s Criminal Investigation Section are looking into the case.
