Third man sentenced in Meriwether murder

 

Dionte Favors to remain behind bars for his role in death of Kenneth Spice

 

GREENVILLE –  Dionte Favors, 22, will spend the next 21 months in jail for robbing and allegedly killing a Newnan man.

Favors pleaded guilty to armed robbery earlier this week inside a Meriwether County Superior Courtroom, stated officials with the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office.

The 22-year-old man was originally charged with felony murder, armed robbery and making false statements in the murder of Kenneth Michael Spice, MCSO said.

The state agreed to dismiss the charges of felony murder and making false statements as part of a negotiated plea deal.

Favors was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Bill Hamrick to ten years to serve two years behind bars, according to MCSO officials.

The 22-year-old was given first offender status and credit for time served. Favors was arrested by MCSO investigators in August, 2015, stated officials.

A homeowner found Spice’s body in a wooded area in the 100 block of Primrose Circle in Meriwether County in June, 2015.

Timiquae Marquan Slaton, 24, of Newnan and Alex Ezekiel Everett, 21, of Greenville, who are brothers, both pleaded guilty in November for their part in Spice’s murder.

Slaton pleaded guilty to malice murder and was sentenced by presiding Superior Court Judge Emory Palmer to life with the possibility of parole, said Meriwether County officials. Everette pleaded guilty one count of aggravated assault in the murder of Spice and was sentenced to 40 years to serve 25 years in prison.

The brothers also pleaded guilty for their roles in the death of Derrick Deshon Alford, 36.

MCSO investigators said Alford was found shot numerous times in a yard outside a home in the 100 block of Odessa Road in Greenville in Feb. 2015. Alford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Keyon Derrell Marshall, 22, of Greenville, was also arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Kenneth Spice.

He has not gone to trial and remain behind bars in the Meriwether County Jail.
