CARROLLTON – The LaGrange Academy Warriors made it two in a row on the road with a 51-33 victory over Oak Mountain on Friday night.

On Thursday, LaGrange Academy traveled to Monticello and beat Piedmont Academy 57-41.

It was a nice bounce-back for LaGrange Academy (4-3), which lost to Trinity Christian and Heritage last week.

“We didn’t have a good weekend, but we played some tough competition, and we’re better for it now,” LaGrange Academy coach Britt Gaylor said. “I’m really excited, especially with region play coming up.”

Senior post player Lincoln Anderson led the way in Friday’s game with 31 points, and Gaylor said his teammates did a great job of feeding him the ball.

“The guys really committed to throwing the ball to him in the post, and getting the ball to him in spot he can score,” Gaylor said. “That’s why he can score 31.”

Gaylor said Matthew Morgan did a nice job off the bench with six points

“Early in the second quarter, it was a close game, and Oak Mountain was feeling pretty good,” Gaylor said. “He came off the bench and sparked us.”

In the win over Piedmont Academy, Anderson scored 21 points, and Brandon Haynes chipped in with 11 points.

“We went on the road and beat a team we may see in the state tournament,” Gaylor said. “It was big.”

Gaylor said in both games, the defense was superb.

“This is how we’ll have to do it,” Gaylor said. “Our defense will have to be good every night, and it has been.”

In Friday’s girls’ game, Lagrange Academy lost to Oak Mountain 43-41.

LaGrange Academy had the ball at the end, but a potential game-winning 3-point attempt didn’t fall.

On Thursday, LaGrange Academy won a close one, outlasting Piedmont Academy 40-39.
