Lady Tigers get road win

VALLEY – They’re on a winning streak.

The Troup Lady Tigers (3-2) made it two wins in a row with a 52-36 road win over Valley (Ala.) on Saturday.

Troup surged to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter, and the game was never competitive after that.

Kwyneshia Spence made four 3-pointers and led Troup with 15 points.

Jedda Madden added eight points for Troup, Shaqoya Gilbert scored seven points, and Amber Gilbert had six points.

In the first quarter, Shawnkeya Sanders made a 3-pointer and scored five points as Troup surged to a 13-2 lead.

Spence got hot in the second period and made three 3-pointers, and by the half Troup had a 33-12 lead.

Troup had a 46-19 through three quarters, and Valley scored 17 points in the final period to make the final score more respectable.

In the boys’ game, Troup (2-3) was unable to get much going offensively, and it lost to Valley 50-40.

Troup’s teams will visit Heard Conty on Tuesday before making the short trip to Callaway on Thursday.
