LAGRANGE – It’s senior night for the Troup High wrestling team.

Although there are still more than two months remaining in the season, this is one of only two home competitions for Troup, so the seniors will be honored before the action gets  under way for today’s four-team meet.

The only other time Troup is at home is for next week’s Dariel Daniel Grind, a two-day dual-format tournament.

Today’s competition features the home-standing Tigers as well as Carrollton, Northgate and Shaw.

“It’s not a typical senior night where you schedule a patsy and make everybody feel good about it,” Troup head coach Craig Garner said.

Before the first match at 5:30 p.m., Troup seniors Trey Harris, Dre Flagg, Tristan Thompson and Cameron Kendall will be recognized.

Harris is coming off a first-place performance in the Chattahoochee River Wrestling Association tournament last weekend, and Flagg finished second in his weight class.

There will also be a junior-varsity competition today, so all of Troup’s wrestlers will get plenty of time on the mat.

That includes Cole Galyon, who has a pair of second-place finishes in junior-varsity events this season.

“He didn’t win a match last year,” Garner said. “He’s placed second in the first two tournaments he wrestled this year.”

Also today, Callaway’s wrestling team will be at Temple High for a competition.

On Saturday, Troup will compete in a tournament at East Paulding.
