LaGRANGE- After the WJCN TV station in LaGrange produced a successful turnout for their traditional “Up All Night” Thanksgiving Dinner last month, they now are looking to collect donations for the Christmas dinner, which will take place on Sunday, Christmas Day at Cannon Street Elementary School.

They are looking for foods such as hams, turkeys, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, dressing, corns, cakes, pies, plates and plastic cutlery. Donations may be taken to Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home at 201 Hamilton Road, the Good Seed Christian Bookstore on 205 S. Greenwood St., and at the WTRP AM Radio Station on New Franklin Road.

The Up All Night dinner is a meal that the Up All Night gospel program does yearly on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day to serve the homeless and less fortunate. The station expects to start serving to the public at 11 a.m. and will continue giving out Christmas meals until all the dinners are given away.

The founder and president of the dinner is Up All Night TV host Jake Sessions and the coordinator is Jimmy Edwards. Edwards is looking to reach a huge number when it comes to giving out dinners this year.

“We are looking to give out about 1,000 dinners this year,” said Edwards. “We are not sure how many will show up but we are looking to hand out as many as we can.”

This is the 24th year that the Up All Night dinner is taking place on Christmas Day and the majority of the dinners will be delivered to the homebound and homeless.

“Having this dinner every year is very important,” said Edwards. “People who listen to our radio station, people who are sick and shut-in, elderly people and people who just won’t be fortunate enough to get a good hot meal on Christmas all look forward to the dinner. A dinner like this is greatly needed in LaGrange.”
