Mr. John Thornton (Johnny) Leverett

Mr. John Thornton (Johnny) Leverett, 59, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Leverett was born Jan. 31, 1957, in Athens, and lived in Troup County most of his life. A 1975 graduate of Hogansville High School, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and was an independent fabric sales representative. Johnny was a dedicated member of Prospect Church in Heard County, where he served on the Men’s Council Committee. He was a longtime member and past-president of the board of the Troup County Chapter of the American Heart Association. He was an avid golfer and loved any outdoor activity, but family was the most important part of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Roberts Leverett of Franklin; children, John Leverett and his wife Jessica of Clarkston, Brittain Leverett of LaGrange, Jason Roberts and his wife Karen of Montgomery, AL; his mother, Joanne Leverett of LaGrange; brothers, Edward R. Leverett, Jr. and his wife Sally of Adairsville, Joe W. Leverett and his wife Brenda of LaGrange; sisters, Laurie Leverett of LaGrange, Leslie Leverett Dodds and her husband Kris of Columbus; and grandchildren, Kassidy, Kyle, and Kaleb. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Edward Raymond Leverett.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Brandon Brooks will officiate and interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 Tuesday night at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.
