Mr. Joel Wilks White, 78, of LaGrange, GA passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at West Georgia Medical Center.

 

Mr. White was born February 26, 1938 in LaGrange, son of the late Horace White and Connie Wilkes White.  He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1957 and attended Gordon Military College on a football scholarship and later attended LaGrange College.  Mr. White was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square, was a Mason, and a member of the Shriners.  Mr. White proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was retired from Woodman of the World Insurance Company.  He enjoyed coin collecting, metal detecting, and the Atlanta Braves.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald “Rail” White.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Amy (Steve) Pressley; son, Alan (Tracey) White; grandchildren, Steven (Andrea) Berry, Robby White, Mallory Pressley, Morgan Pressley, Steven Pressley, and Destiny Pressley; 8 great grandchildren; 2 nephews, and sister-in-law, Beth White.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Reverend Max McCord officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Shadowlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.  The gathering family and friends will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

 

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 400 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30308 in memory of Mr. Joel Wilks White.
