Mr. Donald Eugene Shelnutt, age 58, of Franklin, GA passed away Thursday December 29, 2016 at Emory Hospital Midtown.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Shelnutt will be conducted Saturday December 31, 2016 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centralhatchee First Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

 

Mr. Shelnutt was born March 30, 1958 in Heard County to Ruby Lee Head Ledford and the late William Eugene Shelnutt. He was a Baptist by faith.

 

He was employed as an electrician with Floria-Daniel Construction.

 

In his spare time, he enjoyed farming. He raised animals of many kinds, including hogs and chickens. He also had horses, and he loved to ride them when he was able.

 

He always had a garden where he grew delicious vegetables. When harvest time came, he loved to cook the fruit of his labor and have a big spread at home.

 

He also liked to go to auctions. He enjoyed fellowship with others, and every once in a while he would bid on something.

 

He was a likeable fellow who had a special place in his heart for his pet dog, Streak, and will be missed.

 

Survivors include: his wife, Katherine Ann Shelnutt of Franklin; his mother, Ruby Ledford of LaGrange; sister, Phyllis Grizzard (Larry) of LaGrange; step-sister, Rhonda Buchanan of Franklin; brother-in-law, Jerry Demoss of Jackson, Michigan; nieces: Jennifer Smith of LaGrange and Jeri Kimmel of Jackson, MI; great-nieces and great-nephews: Reagan Smith and Dylan Bailey of LaGrange, and Jo-Jo Kimmel and Cory Kimmel of Jackson, MI.

 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Demoss.
