Myrtis Nadine Corley Gordon

Mrs. Myrtis Nadine Corley Gordon, age 94, of LaGrange, passed away after a long illness on December 31, 2016 at the West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange.

Mrs. Gordon was born February 12, 1922 in Troup County, Georgia, daughter of the late Georgie William Lee Corley and Nancy Emma Hale Corley. She retired after 34 years as a weaver with Dunson/West Point Pepperell Mills where she was founder and three-time president of West Point Pepperell’s Pepperettes Club. She later worked for 12 years as a Senior Companion for West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Mrs. Gordon was a longtime member of Dunson Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching old movies and collecting miniature pitches. She will always be remembered for her unselfish love and dedication to family.

In addition to her parents and brothers, Carson Corley, and George Thomas (G.T.) Corley, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Elaine Gordon. Survivors include sons, Ron (Brenda) Gordon of Springfield, Don Gordon, Bill (Susan) Gordon, and daughter, Ann Austinson, all of LaGrange; grandchildren, Chris (Jeanine) Gordon, Keith (DeAnne) Gordon, and Melva (Tom) Brower, Lee Gordon, Kathy (Bill) Mossie, Bob Hansen, Jennifer (Darrell) Padgett, Frank Gordon, Dan Gordon, Amanda Johnson, and Melissa Goss; seventeen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and one on the way, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, January 3, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel at, 100 Corporate Plaza Drive in LaGrange, located at the intersection of Morgan and West Battle Streets.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Higgins LaGrange Chapel, with Reverend Clay Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.
