Mrs. Elizabeth Caroline Shirley, 81, of LaGrange, GA passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Hospice LaGrange.

 

Mrs. Shirley was born July 17, 1935 in Shoals, IN to John W. Andrews and Bernice B. Barclay-Andrews. Elizabeth was a dedicated Army wife traveling extensively with her young children in support of her husband’s service. She spent much of her adult life in Chicago, IL (where she cheered passionately for the Cubs), Orlando, FL (where she came to adopt the Atlanta Braves) and since 1999 in LaGrange, GA. Many will remember Elizabeth from “Lane 11” at the LaGrange Kroger.

 

Survivors include her children, Harold E. Shirley, Lana J. Shirley, Kevin L. Shirley, grandchildren; Jennifer Powell, Brian Shirley, Justin Shirley, Laura Smith, William Shirley, Julia Shirley and Carolyn Shirley, great grandchildren; Mcartney Powell, Harrison Powell, Zane Shirley, Hudson Shirley, and Adalyn Elizabeth Smith. She was also survived by her sisters, Janet, Brenda and Judy, and a large extended family in Indiana.

 

A private ceremony for family will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Donation Processing, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21714-5014 OR National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, NAMI Troup County, P.O. Box 902, LaGrange, GA 30241.
