One man told LaGrange Police someone shot at him multiple times while he was walking near the intersection of Cypress and Juniper streets about 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

When the shooting started, the victim said he began running back towards his home, LPD investigators stated.

The victim was not hurt in the incident.

He also told investigators he did not recognize the gunman, according to LaGrange police.

Investigators identify suspect in sledge hammer attack

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office continue to search for the man suspected of robbing and severely beating a homeowner inside a residence on Wood Valley Drive.

Allen Buck Moon, 56, of Valdosta, is wanted for armed robbery, stated TCSO officials.

Moon allegedly tied up the homeowner, beat him with a sledge hammer, stole several items plus the victim’s car and took off, TCSO Chief Investigator Capt. Mike Caldwell told the Daily News on Thursday.

The attack happened Tuesday, but the victim was not discovered until Thursday after his family asked the Sheriff’s Office to perform a welfare check, Caldwell stated.

The homeowner suffered extreme head and facial injuries, the chief investigator added. The man was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment. His condition was not known as of press time on Friday.

The victim told TCSO investigators he knew his attacker, said Caldwell.

Anyone with information on the incident or Moon’s whereabouts is asked to call the Troup County Sheriff’s Office at 706-883-1616 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000. Callers can remain anonymous.
