Mrs. Katherine Sikes Alsobrook Parkerson, age 90, passed away on January 22, 2017 at the Florence Hand Home.  Mrs. Parkerson was born on August 25, 1926 in Wedowee, Alabama to the late Henry Edgar Sikes and Myrtle Bolt Sikes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Robert (J.R.) Alsobrook and second husband, Billy Joe Parkerson; son, Michael Wayne Alsobrook; nine brothers and 4 sisters.  Mrs. Parkerson retired from International Playtex and was a long time member of the Unity Baptist Church, where she was involved in many areas of the church, especially in her early years as a worker in the Vacation Bible School.  Survivors include her son, James Winston Alsobrook; daughter, Pat Thompson and her husband Jerry; brother, Guy Sikes (Sollie); grandchildren, Lynn Bolan (Mike), Brian Alsobrook, Mitch Alsobrook (Ashley), Leslie Sebaugh (Anthony), Ashley Mitchell (Todd), Steven Alsobrook (Jessica) and Emily Matthews (Garrett); great grandchildren, Rebecca Bolan, Devin Bolan, Colton Alsobrook, Brylee Alsobrook, Hollis Alsobrook, Jeb Alsobrook, Landon Alsobrook, Holston Sebaugh, Hayleigh Sebaugh, Brody Mitchell, Calen Mitchell, Marley Mitchell, Luke Alsobrook and Brentley Matthews; great great grandchild, Bentley Bowen; extended family and friends.  The family would like to give appreciation to the friends and caregivers at Poplar Creek and Florence Hand Home for “spoiling” Mrs. Parkerson during her stay.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Unity Baptist Church.  Interment to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens.  Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to to Unity Baptist Church,  American Lung Association or to Bethany Brown, c/o  Unity Baptist Church in support of her Mission Trip.  On line condolences may be sent to the family at www.higginslagrangechapel.com.  Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home, 706-884-7117.
