Man arrested for kidnapping

 Public Safety Reports

One woman is home while her soon-to-be ex-husband sits behind bars for kidnapping her just before 9 a.m. Monday from a home in the 100 block of Poplar Circle.

Troup 911 received a call for help and could hear a female screaming in the background, stated investigators with the LaGrange Police Department.

Investigators immediately responded to the home and could not find the victim, according to the police report. They then placed a Be On the Look Out (BOLO) for the woman’s car, which was also not at the scene.

LPD detectives were able to locate the victim when they “pinged” her cellphone through the assistance of her cell provider, stated investigators.

She and the suspect were found inside her car in Tallassee, Alabama, LPD investigators said.

The man was taken into custody by officers with the Tallassee Police Department and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

He faces more charges from LaGrange Police, including: burglary, kidnapping, aggravated assault, battery and false imprisonment, all which fall under the Family Violence Act, stated investigators.

The victim had minor injuries, stated LPD investigators. She was taken to a local hospital, treated and released.

LaGrange police officers issued an arrest warrant for the same man on Saturday after he reportedly entered and stole items out of the victim’s car while it was parked outside the home in the 100 block of Poplar Circle.

He also allegedly left flyers with threats and provocative pictures of the woman on other cars and on the front porch of the house, a police report stated.

The victim told officers she and her husband are separated and in the midst of a divorce.

Police also learned the man was ordered to stay away from his wife and had a conditional bond through the Troup County Jail, the report said.

Officers issued an arrest warrant for the man, charging him with felony aggravated stalking under the Family Violence Act.

The man will still face that charge when he is extradited back to Troup County from Alabama, stated LPD investigators.

The suspect is not named in this account because to do so would give away the identity of the victim.

Burglary

Someone reportedly broke into the Razor Cuts barber shop at 39 Thornton Street just after 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The owner told LaGrange police officers three LCD televisions were stolen from the business, according to the police report.

The value of the T.V.’s was estimated around $500.

 Counterfeit

A man was allegedly given two counterfeit bills when he sold another person a woman’s watch.

The man told LaGrange police he was contacted by a third man through Facebook about the watch, the report read.

Just prior to the transaction, the seller received a message from the buyer who stated his son would meet him instead, according to the report.

The victim said he was approached by two young men in the parking lot of the Food Depot off Hogansville Road who handed him two fake $100 bills, grabbed the watch and ran off towards New Street.

The victim told officers the buyer’s Facebook page has since been deleted, the report read.

Police are investigating.
