Dear Editor:

 

I sincerely appreciate Ms. Foster’s supplication for God’s blessings for President Trump, but the accusation of hubris for his overuse of the word ”I” and his failure to express appreciation for the military is disappointing. Actually, he used the word “I” three times, whereas, Obama in his farewell speech just prior to Trump used the word “I” 40 times. (Snopes).  At the Military Ball addressing the attending members of the armed forces as well as troops in Afghanistan via video, Trump said, “I want to thank you on behalf of Melania, myself, the family and the millions of people all over the world. The job you’ve done is absolutely incredible, absolutely incredible.” Furthermore, after receiving congratulations from the service members in Afghanistan, he replied, “You are the nicest people. Thank you very much. I’m with you all the way. You have somebody that’s going to be right alongside you. We going to do it together. Honestly, not only the support you’ve given me, but the courage you show is incredible, and it’s going to be appreciated. It’s going to be appreciated more than ever before. We are with you a thousand percent.” (DoD News, Defense Media Activity).
