WellStar West Georgia Medical Center now has a Community Resource Directory on its website to connect individuals in the community to the care and resources they need.

Members of the WGMC team created the resource directory in response to a need identified through the health system’s recent Community Health Needs Assessment.

From housing assistance to counseling resources, the directory includes a wide range of support available both regionally and beyond. It also intended to serve agencies that partner with individuals so they can help provide them timely access to needed services.

With more than 75 categories and 650 resources identified, the resource directory is intended to be a comprehensive and inclusive list of social-, child-, behavior- and health-related services offered throughout Troup County and beyond.

Services listed include adult education and training, alcohol and substance abuse, assisted living, child care, counseling, dentist services, disabled individual services, domestic violence, food banks, hospital services, Medicaid enrollment services, mental health services, legal-financial advocacy, youth services and more.

“We’ve been working for almost three years with other local agencies to identify the community organizations that provide services to people in need,” said Jan Nichols, WGMC’s director of marketing.  “It has definitely been a collaborative effort, one we hope will make it easier for people to find the services they need.”

The directory is available by clicking on a link on the home page at wellstar.org/wgmc. Each of the more than 75 categories of service can easily be printed for future reference.

It is possible some services or organizations were inadvertently overlooked during the development of the directory, Nichols said. Those associated with an organization that may need to be listed within the directory can send their personal contact information along with the following information to CHNAFeedback@wghealth.org: organization name, address, telephone number, email and/or web address, and an organization description including its mission, the people it serves, and hours of operation.
