A man accused of assaulting another man with a sledge hammer and robbing him was arrested in Atlanta earlier this week.

Allen Buck Moon, 56, of Valdosta, remains in a Fulton County Jail charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery, stated officials with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

Moon allegedly tied up the victim inside a home on Wood Valley Drive, beat him with a sledge hammer, stole several items including the victim’s car and took off, TCSO Chief Investigator Capt. Mike Caldwell told the Daily News last week.

The assault happened on Jan. 17 but the victim was not discovered until two days later after his family asked TCSO to perform a welfare check, Caldwell stated.

The homeowner suffered extreme head and facial injuries, the chief investigator added. The man was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

The victim told TCSO investigators he knew his attacker, said Caldwell.

Man flees from police

A man wanted by Troup County Superior Court ran from LaGrange police officers while waiting for his children to get off a school bus along Niles Street on Wednesday.

The man reportedly spotted officers and took off on foot through the Lucy Morgan Homes and down Borton Street, according to the report.

He managed to get away from police.

While chasing the suspect, LPD officers noticed another wanted man walking in the area and took him into custody, the report said.

An arrest warrant for the first man was issued, charging him with obstruction.
